CULTURAL DIVERSITY
Superior Healthcare Services, Inc. provides community based services, that are designed to be rooted in, relevant to and part of the community our consumers live in which is part of our culture and subcultures. In order to appropriately serve others, we must first be able to communicate with and engage them. We cannot engage them if we dont first understand their values and how they view the world. To be effective, Person Centered Planning requires the actual engagement and sense of ownership by the consumers in taking responsibility for their own recovery. Engagement and ownership can only occur within the context of an individuals perception of reality, her/his cultural reality.
Superior Healthcare Services, Inc. values the importance of culture when treating our consumers and has adopted the philosophy of an egalitarian partnership between professional and consumers. This egalitarian partnership consists of the professional serving as the coach and the consumer as the main player in which the consumer has equal input into her/his treatment. As the player the consumer gets to choose who else serves on their treatment team. Within this relationship with our consumers there is ongoing education on both ends the consumers are educating the professions about their culture/values and the professionals are educating the consumers on how to get better while respecting the consumers cultural perspective.

RECOVERY MODEL
Superior Healthcare Services, Inc. has adopted the Recovery Model way of thinking, which states that people can and do get better that people are capable of regaining significant roles in society and in control of their own lives. Recovery is both a conceptual framework for understanding mental illness and a system of care to provide supports and opportunities for personal development. Recovery emphasizes that while individuals may not be able to have full control over their symptoms, they can have full control over their lives. Recovery asserts that persons with psychiatric disorders can achieve not only affective stability and social rehabilitation, but transcend limits imposed by both mental illness and social barriers to achieve their highest goals and aspirations.
The following are the principals/components of the Recovery Model that Superior Healthcare Services, Inc. exudes: Recovery is a holistic view of mental illness that focuses on the person, not just the symptoms; Recovery from severe psychiatric disabilities is achievable; Recovery can occur even though symptoms may reoccur; Individuals are responsible for the solution, not the problem; Recovery requires a well-organized support system, that respects consumer rights, and advocates for social change; Recovery requires applications and adaptations to issues of human diversity; and Overall to work towards recovery a consumer must practice acceptance, honesty, open-mindedness and the willingness to recover
